Breaking records - Village Poultry for Better Livelihoods in Mchinji

Just a quick note to let you know more about our work in Mchinji.

We're exhausted!

September/October was a record work load for us. We struggled with COVID-19 restrictions and doubled our effort to put together a training program which ultimately covered 77 community based poultry workers, 25 village leaders, and 11 government field staff. Our field officers Silvester Mkandawire and Luka Tumbwe did a splendid job over some 6 weeks, motor-cycling hither and yon to training centres throughout the District.

We are delighted to see the results of this effort. Farmers in the District are eager to get started on vaccination as soon as possible. I suspect that December is going to be another busy month as the first vaccination program takes off. I'll let you know more about that in due course.

We really appreciate the Australian government funding for this work from the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) channelled via the Kyeema Foundation. Without that support, we would definitely be unable to mount such a successful program.

Best wishes again from the "Warm Heart of Africa". I'll be in touch again soon.
